Adviceguide
This is the National CAB's Adviceguide and has a huge amount of helpful information.
Try the search facility in the top right corner or use the different categories on the left.
There are fact sheets which you can download and print. - This is the government website which is very comprehensive and easy to use. It contains information about parenting, education, employment, benefits, housing, travel, registering life’s events, wills and probate and much more.
- This is a very useful website with easy-to-read guides that you can download covering many topics such as family difficulties, problems with benefits and tax credits, employment rights, consumer and money problems. Very user-friendly.
- Includes a ‘Legal Aid calculator’ which you can use to see if you qualify and a ‘Find a Solicitor’ function including legal aid solicitors. Has links to other sites dealing with many subjects besides legal advice.
- This should be the first stop for people with tenancy problems or who are homeless. Detailed information about tenants’ rights and responsibilities and how to deal with eviction and possession. Contacts to both national and local help lines.
- A very comprehensive source of information relevant to older people, from benefits to care homes, computers to travel, health to consumer problems. Has access to over 100 very useful guides and factsheets which can be downloaded.
- Explains your rights as a consumer of both goods and services and gives expert advice about how to deal with all consumer problems. Includes template letters which you can use to make your complaints.
- Includes a benefit calculator to show if you are eligible for means-tested benefits. Also contains a Grants database if you have particular financial needs not available from other sources.
